4:30 start. Brekky was ok, no cake & I had to make hot choccy myself. We were away shortly after 5 and blasted up the path covering nearly 400m vertical in 45 minutes. On the way up we overtook three of the military types which I felt surprisingly smug about. According to schedule we stil had a couple of hours before reaching the col where the route began properly. We decided to skirt around pt. 3146 on the right. Whilst we were gearing up for glacier travell  the father daughter team we had shared a dorm with appeared. They had asked for a 3am start so we were a little mystified as to where they had been.

I am continuing to write up this diary. Please visit the Gallery
