@candy sometimes refers to some of my tunes as ”Richie” music. This is, as the name suggests, a personal genre defined not so much by bands as lyrics and tunes. My own playlists occasionaly list this stuff as ’Dark’. The defining feature appears to be slightly disturbing subject matter with an uplifting or inspirational tune. Classic examples of the genre would be: ”How it ends” by Devotchka, ”This is how it feels” by the Inspiral Carpets. Maybe I’ll get round to a definitive playlist one day…
